Swiftness of Time

Time, indeed it, is filled with swift transition. It seems as each day goes by, time moves a little faster, and the next day, month, or year is here before we expected it to be. We should learn to build our hopes on things eternal because that is where it counts. The hope offered by the world is, at best, temporary. We certainly cannot rely on it because, at the drop of a hat, it changes, and often it is because someone is offended or no longer likes this or that, so change becomes a forced matter.

Difference of Time (eternal and worldly)

If we hold on to our faith and seek what God offers, we will find that what He provides is not just better but never changes. God is always the same. We often change and do things that are not best for us, but God remains constant. We can trust Him and know that He will never leave us. Why? Because He promised that He never would, and He cannot break a promise. Things in this world often forsake us and leave us in places that do not improve our lives. God will never do that.

The riches of this world are alluring and undoubtedly tempting, but we learn that they can be taken away and do not last forever. It is much like an opportunity built on an empty promise. It never fulfills. Jesus taught, “What does a man gain if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?”

If we study this principle, it makes sense. Jesus is not condemning having stuff but instead speaks to the motive and the heart behind the possession. Jesus came to give life, and it more abundantly. He wants us to enjoy life, have things, do things, work hard, and let Him fill our lives. He wants us to remember that the things of this world can be nice but will leave us empty when it is all said and done if that is all we seek.

Prepared (time lost)

One day this journey called life comes to an end. The Bible is clear that all have an appointed time and then judgment. In other words, we will all stand before God one day. If we have accepted Christ, we have a promise of eternity with Him. If one rejects Jesus and what He offers, then eternity looks very different for them. All roads do not lead to Heaven. I know saying such is not without controversy, but friends, choices have consequences.

Eternity (time realized)

There is an eternity, and everyone will be a part of that on one side or the other. We do not always know what is coming next. So my challenge to anyone reading this note today, come to Christ if you have not already. Allow Him to bring good change to your life, grab hold of His unchanging hand, and never let it go. Jesus said, “Follow Me,” we can trust His steps.

Reality

It pains me to see the condition of so many today. Too many people have placed their faith in a person or a political system. Many believe that everything will be ok if the “right person” gets voted in. But let me assure you, the right person did come, and He did fix everything when He gave His life on the Cross. At the Cross and only at the Cross, we can find all the answers we need for life now and in eternity.

Challenge

We must return to the Cross and the solutions that we find there. It is in Jesus and only in Jesus that we find our hope. The days ahead seem uncertain, but a relationship with Christ will clarify things. I wholeheartedly believe that one day soon, it will all be ok. I no longer look for change, but instead, I want consistency. We can only find that in the never-changing hand of God.

Today, how about joining me by holding onto the Hand of God and moving forward to a much better place in life, in fact, better than we could ever dream or create? Better days are ahead of us, my friends, and they are coming sooner than anyone might believe. Time, it sure does move fast, don’t let it leave you behind.
