We are seeing a lot of chaos in our world right now, and it is just getting started. Whether you ascribe to astrology or not, what we are really talking about is the energy of the planets and how they act upon each other and us. Different planets hold different energy. Some are short term, some spread out over over a year or two – and then there is Pluto.
Pluto is the marker of ages. Each move through a constellation takes about 15-30 years, or a generation, as science puts it. Pluto is the planet of complete transformation. Destroying what was there in order to build something completely new. I have heard many say “Pluto is going into Aquarius” because they are not looking at the actual position of the planet but an astrological calculation, that over time does not match what is actually happening in the sky above us. Pluto is not entering Aquarius – According to observatories around the world, Pluto is entering Capricorn and that makes it take on a whole new meaning.
A Little History
In the early 2000’s Pluto crossed the Milky Way which I see as The Well – The end of one journey and the beginning of another on a massive scale. The last time Pluto crossed the Milky Way was 1760 and the last time it went through Capricorn, started in 1776.
For those in the United States these were significant times. Around 1763 was the starting point that ushered in the Revolutionary war and this is when Pluto was just getting started in Sagittarius. 1776 is considered the birth of the United Sates as an independent country and when Pluto moved into Capricorn.
Our Current Situation
From around 2008 to now Pluto has been moving through the constellation of Sagittarius. A time where the cracks in broken systems are starting to show – where people are waking up to the realities of these broken systems and inequities – where they start shining a light on them – and then start dreaming of better ways forward. A time of recognizing the things that need to change but also of imagination and dreaming up the seeds of innovation to create that change. We have seen this in our world as a whole, but as I live in the United States and that is my personal experience, that is also my focus.
Since the early 2000’s we have seen a huge boom in technology – unleashing the imagination to all types of new possibilities – and glaring recognition for all the broken systems we live under. The broken aspects started to come to a head since the pandemic and the cracks have turned into canyons. If we are honest it all really started with the crash in 2008 but it took a heavier turn in the pandemic. There are no fixes in Sagittarius, that is not that energy. That energy is about revealing what’s broken and the beginning of imagining new possibilities. No, some other things need to happen first and it’s going to get worse before it can get better, because we have to tear it down it before something new can grow.
Welcome to Pluto in Capricorn
Capricorn at it’s core is about structures, organization, rules, order, and Sovereignty. Pluto is about completely destroying what was and building something new. This is exactly what is happening right now and we are just at the start of it. The threats of war and actual wars going on are not just simple ones – they are ones that have the potential to restructure and alter where power sits in the world. In my country it seems we have a war on every front – financial, political/ government, spiritual, rights of the people, and on and on. We have seen the cracks grow into canyons. We have started to bring them to light as we dreamed up new ways things could be. We have created technologies that can help us actually achieve those dreams if we use them right. We are entering a time now though – that it is not the dreaming – it is the action of transformation on these structures – and there has to be a tearing down before we can do a rebuilding. Welcome to Pluto entering Capricorn.
Our road is going to get harder before it gets better. I know no one wants to hear that, but I find comfort in it. Knowing that we have a trial ahead, allows us to be better prepared for it. It also gives us time to come together and work through it together. After all, no matter what, we will all have to live in the world that is created from this – so why not shoot for one where we all can thrive in.
So What Now
What we do in this time will set the tone for all the other cycles and ages to come as Pluto moves from one to the next over the next two hundred years or so. The structures and boundaries set in this cycle will be an undertone for all of it. Think of it like a new foundation being poured.
Doubt not, the broken pieces are going to fight hard to stay. People in general have a hard time with change and want to hold onto what is familiar. Even when that familiar is wrong and broken, they still cling to it. They will fight to stay in control and stay in power. They will fight to not change and keep things just as they are, or worse, go backwards. Some of us, like me, will never understand that mentality because we live in a place of constant transformation. We know some things have to die, so something better can be born from the ashes.
I am willing to bet those that walk with The Morrigan are similar to me in this because walking with Her is constant transformation. We welcome the storm because we understand why the storm has to happen. We also know the beauty of what happens when the storm has passed – we have experienced this time and time again. The Morrigan has given us the tools and strength to walk through that storm and help others along the way.
So if we are looking at the actual position of the planets as they truly are – Pluto is not going into a place of calm, of lifting us up, of creative change – not yet. First it must travel through Capricorn and clear all that is broken. Clear away all the structures so we can get to that point of rebuilding. It’s going to be rough – look at history – but we will rise from it too. What you do in this time, the choice you and I make during this, will determine what we rise into though.
What will you choose to do during this time? Will you cling to the old, or embrace the Hope that comes from something new? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
