“There’s this person you just have to meet!” How many times have you heard this? Usually it’s with regards to dating, but I have also heard it applied to networking, business, and friendships.  This time – it was for…Ted Lasso?? Whenever I hear this, I always smile, nod, and listen to whatever descriptions or explanations come next. Internally though? I’m doing this: New relationships in my life are always approached with a healthy level of caution. At this age of... Read more

When an American doctor learns that his estranged son has died overseas while on a pilgrimage, he knows that he must go and bring his son back home. Traveling to France, he finds himself on the “El Camino de Santiago” a network of paths where modern day pilgrims and travelers make their way toward the shrine of Saint James the Great in Spain. Peter Quill and the Guardians of the Galaxy are back in action and this time around, it’s not all fun and just fun, games, or adventure. This film has everything you could want in a Guardians movie and much, much, more. At nearly three hours long, when my family and I got to the end of the film, we were all reeling. Some movies last 2.5 or 3 hours and at the end you feel like you just sat down... Read more

If you hadn’t heard yet, the Writer’s Guild of America is on strike.  Quite a few people have asked for my thoughts on what the outcome is likely to be.  Honestly, there’s no telling how this will turn out. The last time there was a writer’s strike, it ushered in the reality show era. This time around, the industry is still learning what things look like post Covid. Not knowing how long it will last or what final negotiations will... Read more

Opening in theaters nationwide on April 28th,  Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. is a film based on the iconic, generation shaping book by Judy Blume. When I was growing up, the adults in my world weren’t fans of this book. I attended a pretty strict church that didn’t permit pierced ears, makeup, or even women wearing slacks or jeans.  A lot of discussions about sex, puberty and adolescence happened but they were usually heavily laced with sin, hell,... Read more

In case you may have missed it, the big movie that everyone is talking about right now is The Super Mario Bros. Movie.  It stunned everyone out of the gate with a massive opening weekend and as of this morning, it’s sitting at a $678 million global box office. When this movie was poised to open, I took my kids (who are young adults now) to go see an early screening. I had an idea that it would be some... Read more

Many years ago, some very clever television executives realized that around the big holiday seasons, movies with a Biblical theme became quite popular. And so it was that generations of children grew up with Charlton Heston parting the Red Sea while yelling for Pharaoh to let his people. These films like The Passion, Risen, and the more recent film, Church People, became part of our family traditions. This year, a new entry is hoping to become part of your family... Read more

Confession: I  love sneak preview fan screenings of geeky movies.  There is absolutely nothing like being in a room full of like minded people who all love the same thing. You can feel the energy roar through the auditorium when something happens on that screen that resonates with the fans. Like the moment that Cap said “Avengers Assemble!” Or the first time that you see a  lightsaber cut through the darkness in the middle of a heated battle. That said,... Read more

I went and saw Shazam: Fury of the Gods in early previews last week and I really enjoyed it. Like the first film, I felt that this was another solid entry into the D.C. cinematic universe. I found it to be a fun, highly engaging adventure that the entire family could enjoy. I definitely recommend this one if you’re looking to go to a movie theater for a fun experience.  After spending the weekend reading comments and watching social media... Read more
