Watch: The Past Resurfaces to Confront Adonis in New ‘Creed III’ Trailer February 17, 2023

MGM has released the final trailer for “Creed III,” the latest in the series starring Michael B. Jordan. Launched as a spinoff of the Rocky franchise with Adonis, the son of Apollo Creed, the new trilogy has stood on its own, earning accolades from critics and audiences, as a modern reworking of an underdog boxing drama. Jordan himself steps behind the camera this time, making his directorial debut, in a story about Adonis reuniting with a childhood friend who wants to usurp the solid life he’s built with his family.

The final trailer features many shots of rising star Jonathan Majors (“Devotion,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”) as Damian as well as returning stars Jordan, Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad. Like many stories in this franchise and “Rocky,” the lead character is shaken out of his comfort zone by an up-and-coming fighter with a desire to be the champion. At the same time, it appears Adonis will balance his family life while trying to hang on to his sports legacy.

The official synopsis follows:

After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. The face off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Damian – a fighter who has nothing to lose.

Creed III is the third installment in the successful franchise and is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut.
